Bridgestone POTENZA Sport: The Tyres beneath Lamborghini’s groundbreaking PHEV supercar - Online Car Marketplace for Used & New Cars
Wonder what the fuss with Lamborghini's first hybrid supercar, the Revuelto, is all about? And why does it use Bridgestone tyres exclusively? Bridgestone POTENZA Sport is the official Technical Partner of Lamborghini's groundbreaking PHEV supercar, the Lamborghinis Revuelto. The car is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine and its all-wheel drive system, with its launch time documented as 2.5 seconds. Bridgestone’s engineers developed a custom-engineered compound that balances grip, durability, and longevity, and tested the car at the company's state-of-the-art R&D Centre in Rome, Italy. The Bridgestones POTenZA Sport ultra high-performance tyres were designed and tested at the R &D Centre using BridgestONE’'s Virtual Tyre Development technology. The tyres are available as mixed fitment with 265/35 ZRF20 on the front axle and 345/30 ZRF21 on the rear axle, as well as 265/30 on the back and 355/25 ZRF22. They can be fitted with non-RFT, 265/RFT. For drivers that demand complete performance, the RFT will be fitted to the front/30/20 standard tyres, while the ZFZR20/20/30 standard tyres can still be fitted at 80km/20.

As the ‘Official Technical Partner’ of Lamborghini, Bridgestone’s bespoke tyre designs form the bedrock of the supercar brand’s power delivery
The Lamborghini Revuelto is the newest supercar from its groundbreaking stables in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. It’s not special because of its 6.5-litre V12 engine or its all-wheel drive system, but because it’s a plug-in hybrid supercar, the legendary Italian brand’s first.
Yes, besides the thundering bellow of 12 cylinders behind the driver, the car has three electric motors that give it additional kick, to the tune of a staggering 1,015 horsepower. Its 0 to 100km/h launch time is documented as 2.5 seconds. To go any faster, you’ll probably need to strap a rocket onto a car and have the reflexes of a jet fighter pilot.
All that power is one thing, but how do you put all that power to the ground without the tyres simply spinning up on the spot? Lamborghini has chosen Japanese tyre manufacturer Bridgestone to be its ‘Official Technical Partner’ for putting the horsepower of its massively powerful supercars onto the road. On the four corners of the Lamborghini Revuelto, you’ll find Bridgestone POTENZA Sport ultra high-performance tyres, formed using a custom-engineered compound that balances grip, durability, and longevity.
Bridgestone’s engineers got the brief to formulate a rubber compound that would fit the awesome power delivery and grip requirements of the Lamborghini Revuelto, while still being comfortable enough to be used as an everyday tyre for times when the car is not tearing it up on racetracks.
Developed and manufactured in Rome, Italy, the Lamborghini Revuelto’s Bridgestone tyres were designed and tested at the company’s state-of-the-art R&D Centre, using Bridgestone’s Virtual Tyre Development technology. This is in line with the sustainable approach to designing automobile components. Rather than to generate waste from building and testing countless prototypes, a digital version of an in-development tyre is created and tested virtually before building prototypes that are close to the final product, leading to a lot of savings in raw materials and CO emissions during development.
Featuring an asymmetric threadblock wall angle that increases lateral stiffness and reduces thread deformation when cornering, the Bridgestone POTENZA Sport tyres designed exclusively for use by the Lamborghini Revuelto is also packed with many other groundbreaking build features.
This included the innovative rubber compound technology, a 3D tread design built to be grippy yet resilient, and a tyre profile that has been designed specially to work with the Lamborghini Revuelto’s suspension geometry to apply the maximum contact patch to the tarmac in any dynamic loading situation.
The construction they deliver provides outstanding performance at high speeds, excellent steering response and precision that’s ideally suited to the Lamborghini Revuelto’s ultimate performance DNA, along with outstanding grip on dry and wet surfaces. When you have more than 1,000 horsepower to send a car launching forwards, you’ll need tyres that can really stick to the tarmac, across a wide range of ambient temperatures, and that’s quite an engineering challenge.
There’s more than just one set of tyres for the Revuelto. The premium, ultra high-performance POTENZA Sport tyres specifically developed for the Lamborghini Revuelto are available as mixed fitment with 265/35 ZRF20 on the front axle and 345/30 ZRF21 on the rear axle, as well as with 265/30 ZRF21 on the front and 355/25 ZRF22 on the rear to fit bigger option rims.
The ‘F’ in the ZRF labels denote the tyres as having Run-Flat Technology (RFT). While slightly heavier than their standard counterparts, RFT tyres have stronger, reinforced sidewalls that enables drivers to continue driving safely even after a puncture. It is rated safe for speeds of up to 80km/h for a distance of 80km, even with no air pressure in the tyre at all. This gives the supercar driver additional peace of mind knowing that the car can still safely cruise to the next service stop safely in the event of a puncture.
For drivers that demand complete performance, the Lamborghini Revuelto can be fitted with standard, non-RFT, 265/35 ZR20 tyres on the front and 345/30 ZR21 POTENZA Sport tyres on the rear.
The Revuelto is not just a supercar for warm weather use, and Bridgestone’s Blizzak LM005 tyres are available for it as an aftersales winter option in multiple fitments, including 265/35 R20 and 265/30 R21 for the front wheels, with 345/30 R21 and 355/25 R22 for the rear as demanded by the Revuelto.
Bridgestone’s partnership with Lamborghini extends beyond the new Revuelto hybrid supercar. As the ‘Official Technical Partner’, Bridgestone has been working with Lamborghini to develop the most suitable tyres for its cars for many years.
Now within the Italian supercar brand’s stables, you’ll find the new Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato wearing Bridgestone DUELER All-Terrain A/T002 tyres, tailor-made for this all-terrain super sports car.
The Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica, a further evolution of the Huracán supercar, is paired with Bridgestone’s POTENZA Sport tyres straight from the factory, and the Lamborghini Huracán STO, the brand’s road-homologated super sports car, is shod with Bridgestone POTENZA Sport tyres. Being practically a road-legal racing car, the Huracán STO can also be fitted with Bridgestone POTENZA Race street legal track tyres, specially designed for the car, when the owner desires so.
We might not all be able to afford a supercar, but there’s that little bit of supercar technology in every Bridgestone tyre from R&D work on cars like the groundbreaking Lamborghini Revuelto.
