(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 23 - Provincial President Arno Kompatscher's South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) lost Sunday's election in Alto Adige, failing to get enough councillors elected to keep control of the provincial assembly, while remaining the biggest group.
The SVP won 34.5% of the vote and 13 councillors, down by 7.4 points from the last provincial election in which they had 15 councillors elected.
Team K was second with 11.1% and Süd-Tiroler Freiheit third with 10.9% - both parties got four councillors elected - followed by the Greens with 9% and three councillors.
Premier Giorgia Meloni's Brothers of Italy (FdI) was the top Italian-language party with 6% and two councillors.
