WFF - Two-eyed seeing: Indigenous youth leading in science and innovation for climate action and food systems

The World Food Forum's (WFF) flagship event is comprised of the WFF Global Youth Forum, the FAO Science and Innovation Forum and the FAO Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum. In 2023, the WFF flagship event will take place from 16 to 20 October at the Headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy and virtually. This article looks at Indigenous youth across the world who are leading in science and innovation for climate action and food systems. It will focus on how Indigenous youth are developing new ways to approach the current challenges of climate change and food system degradation. This article also looks at how Indigenous Peoples' systems of knowledge and other scientific methods are complimentary.

Across the world, Indigenous youth are combining their Indigenous food and knowledge systems with research methods and innovative approaches to address challenges in food production, nutrition, environment and livelihoods on the frontlines of climate change and food system degradation. This event will focus on how Indigenous youth are developing new ways to approach the current challenges demonstrating how Indigenous Peoples' systems of knowledge and other scientific methods are complimentary.
